THE BIG HUG was created by a group of kids from the Tampa Bay area with the idea something as small as a hug could serve as a big message of love and compassion. These young activists are on a mission to help heal the world and to spread the Golden Rule message to treat others the way you want to be treated.
On Sunday, January 21 - National Hugging Day - The Big Hug will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest group hug. These kids also have an ambitious goal to raise funds and awareness for a cause that’s important to them – children in need. Monies raised will go to St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital in Tampa. The goal is to buy 3-D printers to help cut down on the amount of time kids are in surgery. Kids helping kids. Kids spreading kindness. Kids motivating us to make the world a better place.
The Big Hug will feature live music, food trucks, sponsor booths, kids activities, raffle, and one BIG hug for the record books.
Special guest appearances by the Tampa Bay Buccaneer Cheerleaders, Tampa Bay Rays, Tampa Bay Rowdies and Tampa Bay Lighting. 6x WWE Champ Chris Jericho will serve as the event MC.
The event is free and open to the public. Join the #bighugday movement!
